CATHERINE BABA

Stylist, designer, consultant and costume designer for film, Catherine Baba is also considered a style icon, influential on the global platform.

 

Since leaving Sydney, Australia, in the mid ’90s, Catherine has been based in Paris, working worldwide in Europe, the U.K, the U.S, Asia, South America and the Middle East. After graduating from the reputable Studio Berçot in Paris, Catherine debuted at the Chanel Couture studio and then continued as creative consultant at Ungaro, Givenchy and Balmain. She also worked with independent designers Jeremy Scott, Andre Walker and Marani, among others.

 

She made her cinematic debut by designing costumes for Eva Ionesco’s remarkable first film, My Little Princess, starring Isabelle Huppert, which earned her a nomination for Best Costume Design at the 2012 César Awards. Since then, Catherine has worked exclusively with Laetitia Casta on costumes for the French films Arletty, une passion coupable, Des lendemains qui chantent and Sous les jupes des filles as well as Eva Ionesco’s short film Rosa Mystica. She recently worked on all the costumes for Sara Forestier’s directing debut, the French film M, which was released in 2017. Catherine also was chosen to be one of the judges in the French version of the TV show Project Runway.

 

She has collaborated with the actresses Laetitia Casta, Milla Jovovich, Marisa Berenson, Kristen Scott Thomas, Monica Bellucci, Rossy de Palma, Charlotte Rampling, Kylie Minogue and other high-profile personalities.

 

As a stylist, Catherine is an acknowledged global style leader, having worked on editorial shoots for major magazines, including Vogue, Vanity Fair, Harpers Bazaar, Elle, Interview, Glamour, Dazed and Confused, Hunger, Tank, 10, Sorbet, Stiletto, WestEast and Egoiste, among others, as well as advertising campaigns for leading brands like Cartier (including an epic three-day fashion show event at Lancaster House in London, presenting their L’Inde Mystérieuse high-end jewelry collection), Moschino and L’Oreal with celebrated photographers Mario Testino, Jean-Baptiste Mondino, Ellen von Unwerth, David LaChapelle, Ali Mahdavi, Katerina Jebb and Irina Ionesco, among many others.

 

Catherine has since launched her loungewear collection with Nouvelle Affaire, a costume jewelry line with Gripoix in 2012 and a sunglasses collection with Friend-Of.com at Colette & Dover Street Markets in New York City and London in 2015, while continuing to work as a creative director and stylist.
